Journal #5

Henry Ford once said, "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, either way, you're right." Ford was born in Michigan and in his early years worked on a farm. He then set out to Detroit where he became a machinist. Years later, he became the founder of Ford Motor Company where he introduced his Model T car. He was known for his economical vehicles and steady wages for his employees. In 1914, he was recognized at the developer of the mass production assembly line. This process changed the American industry dramatically. His quote essentially means, one’s mindset influences the outcome of their efforts. Ford is an example for his own philosophy. By believing in affordable automobiles for the working class, he set forth and created the Model T automobile and so forth. I have witnessed this same mindset in two women at my church. Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Monteith are two wonderful women who believed there should be some kind of group for high school girls. A group that would support each other, where they could celebrate or share their troubles, all while learning about/relating to religion. This group they created has been going strong for many generations of high school girls. They had an idea to inspire young girls through a strong supporting life group and it has impacted many lives. Their ambition for helping girls stay close to God and helping their trials influenced a boy’s life group as well as a middle school life group.
